The Butter Robot

"What is my purpose?" I threw together a real-life replica of the Butter Robot from Rick and Morty. The wiring is a mess, but the existential dread is fully functional.

Project Summary

I originally thought about 3D printing the entire chassis, but ended up just printing the claw. The rest of the body is literally just old Lego bricks, electrical tape, and a few micro servos I had lying around on my desk.

An ESP32 handles all the logic, driving the three servos to articulate the head and arms. Even though the hardware is completely jury-rigged, I spent most of the time tuning the actual code. I dialed in the servo sweep timing specifically to mimic that slow, depressed droop he does in the show when he realizes his only purpose in life is passing butter.
